  • Giant’s pitcher Jonathan Sanchez pitches the first no-hitter at AT&T Park in an 8-0 victory over the San Diego Padres.
  • FC Gold Pride joins the Women’s Professional Soccer league and plays their first season at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Pride would win the championship the following season after relocating to Hayward. 
    • The San Jose Sharks win the Presidents’ Trophy, which is given to the team with the best overall record in the NHL.
