1977 Bay Area Golden Moments
- The Oakland Raiders defeat the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI to capture their Super Bowl title.
- Stanford hires Bill Walsh as their football coach and he leads the Cardinal to a 9-3 overall record, as well as a victory over LSU in the Sun Bowl.
- Led Zeppelin performs at the “Days on the Green” festival at the Oakland Coliseum, which turns out to be the band’s final live performance in the United States.
1977 Bay Area Firsts
Stanford alum Roy Raymond and his wife Gaye found “Victoria’s Secret” in San Francisco and open the company’s first store in Palo Alto.
Larry Ellison, Bob Miner and Ed Oates found “Software Development Laboratories” (which later becomes Oracle) in Santa Clara.
