On Saturday, February 6, fifteen-time Grammy Award winning artist Alicia Keys closed out the evening performances at The City Stage presented by Levi’s® as a part of the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee’s free concert series at Super Bowl City.
Super Bowl City presented by Verizon, centered in Justin Herman Plaza on the Embarcadero at the foot of San Francisco’s Market Street, is designed to showcase the best the Bay Area has to offer, with interactive games, and activities that highlight the region’s technological prowess, culinary excellence and cultural diversity. Keys’s debut album Songs in A Minor sold over 12 million copies worldwide. She earned five Grammy Awards for the album in 2002, including Song of the Year for “Fallin” and Best New Artist. She became the second American recording artist to win five Grammys in one night. Her second album The Diary of Alicia Keys earned her four additional Grammys in 2005, and her third album, As I Am earned three Grammys in 2007. In addition to being a hugely accomplished recording artist, Keys has also had success as an actress. She appeared in The Secret Life of Bees and earned a nomination at the NAACP Image awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.
